Working Artist: Eric Benjamin
Eric Benjamin graduated from Clemson University in 1996. He is an active artist in the Greenville community as well as an art teacher at Stone Academy.
His work is primarily abstract landscapes painted in vivid colors with brushstrokes that can often suggest images in the viewer's own mind. Benjamin states, "My images are based on the landscape real or imagined. They are a representation, not a documentation of nature. I am more concerned with creating a strong, emotional and positive image than in recreating a specific place." His art causes the viewer to see the landscape from different perspectives such as the bird's-eye view.
Among his influences are Willem de Kooning, Richard Diebenkorn, Wolf Kahn and locally, Carl Blair.
