About Mrs. Tate

Hello! My name is Carol Tate and I am so happy to be working with your children this year. The purpose of this page is to let you know a little bit about myself. I began my college education at the University of Maryland, Munich Campus in Munich Germany. I earned an Associate's degree from U of MD, moved back to the USA and attended the University of South Carolina for one year. I then transferred to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary/Middle Educaiton. I hold an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education from Furman University. I currently hold a South Carolina teaching certificate, and I am certified to teach elementary and gifted and talented education.

This year is my 28th year of teaching. I taught 5th grade for 17 years and 4th grade for 1 year. This is my tenth year teaching Challenge and I love working in this program.

I am married to my husband, Ed, and we have two children named Connor and Mackenzie. Mackenzie is 22 and attends school at USC Upstate. Connor is 25 and he is a 2014 graduate of The Citadel. He lives and works in Charleston. We also share our home with our miniature dachshund, Dixie and our cat, Hatchie. In my spare time I love to read, shop, work out, travel, and spend time with friends and family.
