Welcome to my Website!
This is my twentiy-third year teaching art in Greenville County.
I am very excited about the units we've planned for students to work on in my studio classroom!
Now, a brief introduction of myself... besides teaching in Greenville, I have also taught in Charlotte (NC), Conyers (GA), and Bowling Green (KY).
Having taught in several states and different school settings, I can honestly say that Oakview is the very best school that I have ever been a part of. Teaching
wonderful students and working alongside a dynamic staff and dedicated parents has been a dream come true for me.
There is no other career that I could imagine to be more worthwhile for me.
A Kentucky native, I grew up and lived in Bardstown (voted 2013's most beautiful small town in America). I attended college at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, go Hilltoppers! Originally a photo-journalism major, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Art. Upon graduating, I moved to Beaufort, SC and set up, Karissa Studio, where I created original pieces of pottery which I sold through local galleries and festivals.
While living in Beaufort, I found myself with spare time on my hands. I decided to try substitute teaching during the days. I fell in love with the classroom. So, I packed my bags and headed back to WKU where I obtained a K-12 teaching certificate in Art.
I have a son, Sam who is attedning College of Charleston
In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with Sam and my fiancé', Matt, gardening, swimming, cooking, reading, arts and crafts, being a Homebound teacher, and teaching private art lessons.
I also share our home with our pets: 2 dogs: Stewie and CoCo and our cat, (Stinkbug).
