All About Mrs. Lewis
All About Mrs. Lewis
Dear Parents,
I am thrilled to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this school year! We are going to have a wonderful year together! I am married to a wonderful husband, Hobart Lewis. He is very supportive of my career, and I feel very blessed to have been married to him for 31 years. I have two wonderful children and a precious daughter-in-law. I have two Heaven sent grandchildren and two dogs, Ryder and Lew.
I am a graduate of Furman University with a Masters degree in Educational Leadership. For the past four years, I served as an administrator at Plain Elementary. I have decided to return back to my love of teaching, and I feel so very blessed to serve again at Skyland Elementary. I served at Skyland as a former 3rd grade teacher in the very same classroom where your child will enjoy learning each day. I am also a graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I am certified to teach children from K4-3rd grade. It has been an honor to serve Greenville County Schools. This is my 19th year with GCSD.
I am very fortunate to be a graduate of the Intensive Development in Education through the ARTS program with the Greenville Peace Center. This is a three year program where I was trained on how to incorporate music, art, and creative movement into the classroom. I am very proud of being an IDEA teacher! I love to reinvent myself, and most importantly, I enjoy learning new teaching techniques that enable students to be creative, inventive, and imaginative in the classroom. I truly believe when a learning environment is skillfully created, students become lifelong learners.
I am looking forward to learning more about you and your child. Together we will become a school family where your child’s interest will come first in my classroom planning and instruction. My personal philosophy concerning education is to create a classroom where learning happens naturally and that every child feels special and loved. My personal goal as an educator is to create a learning environment that supports a positive teaching style, a structured classroom environment, and a classroom that reflects students engaged in developmentally appropriate activities. This is going to be an exciting year for your child, and I cannot wait to see how he or she develops academically and socially.
In closing, I want you to know that I am committed to my career as an educator and feel honored to be at Skyland Elementary School. It is definitely a great place to be each day! My promise to you is to see that your child is successful in my classroom and has a fantastic 3rd grade experience. Please know that you can contact me anytime if you ever have any questions or concerns. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with your child!
Sincerely,
Angie C Lewis
