SALKA SID AHMED
Born in 1953 at the outskirt of Atar, Salka Mohamed Sid Ahmed was a naturally born leader. She was the oldest among 4 siblings (2 brothers and 2 sisters). She helped her parents keep the family together during very rough times. Her father, Mohamed Sid Ahmed was a civil servant. He was among the first forest guards of Mauritania. He taught her to love and care for nature. Her mom Salma Sid Lemin was a loving and caring housewife.
Salka Mohamed Sid Ahmed started her formal career in 1974 (at age 20). And evolved over time to have the following positions :
1974 - 1980 : office clerk at the department of equipment and transportation

Salka Mohamed Sid Ahmed was a courageous unrecognized visionary. Her struggle to empower women and to bring taboos into the conversation was unnoticed. In a world saturated by hate and divisiveness, Salka Mohamed Sid Ahmed loved everyone and tried her best to make people question established ideas.
