GrangeCon13 take 2 was held at the Eden Resort Oct 3-6, 2025.
We reserved a 2-bedroom Villa. Walk up only but the stairs are wide and shallow. The Villa had a full kitchen which everyone made use of. The main living area has a large dining table with 6 chairs, a sofa and a comfy side chair. There is a TV over the fireplace with wifi to connect. A balcony overlooked the pool area.
We were open for business by noon on Friday with badges & program books ready. Rich was the first to show up, with Jill, Pat, Bret, Violet & her daughter, and Adam showing up before dinner. We all went to Quips for dinner with mixed success.
Saturday Steph showed up in time for breakfast at Arthur’s. Nate & Heather showed up later. Bill hid the stickers for the Skiffy Surprise which was as chaotic and fun as ever! There was swimming in the afternoon followed by the Bake-Off. There was a LOT of good food!
Sunday we all met for breakfast at Arthur’s again, this time Nate & Heather joined us. In the afternoon Paul debuted his dragon costume. It requires two people. Steph was originally scheduled to “man” the rear but, unfortunately, she could not make it. Not wanting to disappoint Anita, Eden front desk, Cat stepped in to take Steph’s place. There was a bit of confusion and hilarity behind the scenes but Paul & Cat eventually got the dragon strolling down the hall. Bret met us in the lobby dressed as the 7th Dr. Who.
Afterwards there was more swimming and a relax in the hot tub followed by dinner of Bake-Off left overs.
Monday we met for breakfast at Arthur’s. Steph made it in. Several members had already left so it was a smaller group. After breakfast we parceled out any Bake-Off left overs and tidied up the suite. By 2pm everyone had left except Cat & Paul, who stayed over until Tue morning.
Location:
Bldg. 4. Room #401. There were GRANGECON signs on the door.
COVID Policy:
There was a COVID policy. Everyone complied and, as far as I know, no one got sick from the con.
Bake Off:
After a slow start with minimal interest the Bake Off took off! This year the majority of entries were main dishes! Bake Off was Saturday evening. There was plenty to eat for both meat lovers and vegetarians. The winners this year were Rich for his Stroganoff and Bret for his Trifle!
Cat - Cowboy Stew - regular & vegetarian
Paul - banana cake
Rich - Beef Stroganoff
Bret - stew, deviled eggs, Trifle
Steph – 2 quiche, regular & vegetarian
Jill – pumpkin bread
Nate – 2 kinds of cupcakes which were not in the competition
Just Fun Stuff:
There was the usual faux program book complete with puzzles.
Bill will hosted Skiffy Surprise for the first time in years, with a cool prize for the winner!
Bake-Off, of course!
Costume Parade - Sunday afternoon with Paul debuting his 2-person dragon & Bret showing a stellar Dr. Who.
Space Stickers – with a big piece of poster paper for people to get creative. It was especially popular with our youngest member. 😊
Swimming – no gaming this year. Instead, multiple members took to the heated outdoor pool daily.
Food - we provide ice tea and some munchies but we welcome anything you would like to contribute: a bottle of soda, some veggies or fruit or cheese, a bag of chips, cookies, whatever. The more the merrier!
