Class Information

Band 2019-2020 Class Schedule

Monday-Thursdays

8:00-8:40 AM--6th Grade Band

This is beginning band for 6th grade students who will learn the basics of making sound on band instruments, apply those sounds to reading music notation, and eventually performing concerts to show their growth. These students are expected to practice a minimum of 30 minutes a week.

10:30-11:30 AM--7th & 8th Grade Middle School Band

This class encompasses both 7th and 8th grade students and further develops the music performance skills established in 6th Grade. These students perform 4 concerts a year and are expected to practice more (a minimum of 1 hour a week) and are performing more difficult music literature and may possibly participate in concert competitions. 8th grade students are also eligible for participation in the RHS Marching Band.

12:10-1:40 PM--High School Chorus

This is beginning chorus for high school students. In this course, students will learn the basics of appropriate classical-style singing. They will apply this learning to performing concerts throughout the year. Chorus students will also develop knowledge of basic music theory. High School chorus students are expected to practice an hour a week.

1:50-3:20 PM--High School Band

This class consists of high school band students grades 9-12. This is a concert band group refines and develops it's musicianship skills with rigorous rehearsals of music literature chosen to challenge students. High School Band students are also eligible to participate in the RHS Marching Band which is entirely extra-curricular. Students in High School Band class are expected to practice two hours a week or two and a half hours a week if they are taking the honors option (junior year or senior year only).

8:00-8:40 AM--6th Grade Music Appreciation

This class is a general music education class at Robbinsville Elementary School and rotates to a different group of students each nine weeks. The curriculum for this class is Popular Music in America from approximately 1850 to the late 1900s.

8:40-9:20 AM--5th Grade Intro to Band

This class is a general music education class at Robbinsville Elementary School and rotates to a different group of students each nine weeks. The curriculum for this class is to introduce students to the different instruments taught in band and offer the students an opportunity to try those instruments to determine if they would be interested in playing in the 6th grade band.
