Automotive Service III

This course builds on the skills and knowledge introduced in Automotive Service I & II.
Building advanced automotive skills and knowledge in vehicle servicing, testing, repair, and
diagnosis of brakes, electrical systems, drive train, engine, HVAC and steering & suspension
systems, while emphasizing hands-on experience. As part of the NATEF accreditation, topics are
aligned with the Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) requirements. English language arts and
mathematics are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include
apprenticeship, cooperative education, entrepreneurship, internship, and job shadowing. This
course helps prepare students for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in
Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR- G1). Competitive events, community service,
and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace
readiness skills through authentic experiences.

^Prerequisites: Automotive Service II (IT17)
^Must be a Second Semester Junior or Senior Level Student
^Must maintain a valid SP/2 Safety Certification.
>Candidates for this class must have proved that they are safe in a shop environment, are proficient in using service publications and repair documents, and have displayed professionalism in the classroom and the shop environment.
