Greetings and welcome to 5th Grade!
This is my 13th year teaching with Gretna Public Schools, and my seventh year teaching 5th grade. Before coming to Aspen Creek, I taught at Palisades Elementary, six years in 4thgrade and two years in 5th grade. I grew up in Papillion and, after graduating from Papillion-La Vista High School, I attended Hastings College. I graduated from Hastings in May of 2009 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I then continued my education at Doane University and graduated with my Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction in May 2015. This summer, I completed the ITEAM (intermediate Teachers of Mathematics) program courses through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This fall, I will begin coursework with Midland University to earn a HAL (High Ability Learners) Endorsement. While I love to teach, I also love to learn new things, which is why I continue to further my education.
I am the youngest of three children in my family. My sister Jenny lives in Minnesota, and my brother Danny lives in Chicago with his wife, Nicole, and 5-year-old son, Reid. My parents still live in Papillion and have provided me with amazing encouragement and support while growing up, and continuing through my adult life.
My husband, Brandon, and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary in May, and we couldn’t be happier! We both can’t believe how quickly these first seven years of marriage have gone, and how much has happened during our time together. We have had a fun and relaxing summer as we worked on some crafting and home projects, and enjoyed visiting and spending time with our family and friends. It was so refreshing to be able to see them in person, rather than through a screen! As usual, the summer flew by, and we enjoyed every moment!
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, quilting, crafting, dancing, reading, and scrapbooking. I am still a novice quilter, but with my mom’s expertise, I have been able to create some new projects this summer. One of my favorites was a Hogwarts Castle, which will be the center of fun wall hanging!
Due to my family roots in Minnesota, I am a fan of the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings! Along with the professional sports teams, I enjoy watching college football and cheer for Nebraska - Go Huskers!
I am absolutely delighted to be teaching 5th grade at Aspen Creek Elementary again this year, and I am excited to kick off another school year! Let’s have a MAGICAL year!
