Hello! My name is Karli Fisher. I am one of the 6th grade science teachers at Challenger Intermediate School!
I was born and raised in Arkansas City, KS. I graduated from Arkansas City High School in 2011. I then went to Cowley County Community College for my Associates Degree. Then, I transferred to Fort Hays State University where I obtained my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I taught for 3 years in Arkansas City as a 1st Grade Teacher. In 2019 I obtained my Masters degree through Newman University in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in ESOL. I am currently attending Fort Hays again for a Masters in Instructional Technology and plan to graduate in spring of 2023.
This will be my 4th year teaching at Challenger!
My favorite part about being a teacher is when a student understands something in our lesson and has the "aha" moment. Or, after a lesson when students will use the learning or strategy taught to help them with a new concept. One of my favorite things about teaching 6th grade is that most students like to have fun and joke around in class, but know when it is time to stop and get to work.
My husband Kyle and I have three kids (2 girls and 1 boy). Our daughters are 8 and 10 and our son is 1. We love going to the zoo, playing board games, watching movies, and playing outside. We love to ride our bikes together. Our girls also love reading books to us and their little brother.
In my spare time I love reading and spending time with my family! This past summer we went to Disney World!
I love super cheesy jokes! For example, one of my favorites is: What do you call an acid with attitude? --- A-mean-o-acid. I enjoy having my students tell me their own jokes!
