Parents are encouraged to send their children to school on the bus on the first day of school to develop the routine.
Students will follow the regular morning routine of entering the school with their backpacks and then proceeding to the playground until the bell rings. Staff will be on hand to greet all students and help direct those who are new to the school.
Parents who wish to come to the school on the first day are reminded that they must park on the road. For safety, we cannot have vehicles parked on the school grounds. ****School buses always have the right of way.****
Parents will wait outside. Parents of our youngest students, grade primaries, will be invited into the school for first day photos when the bell rings. Once photos are taken, parents will wave goodbye and the children will start their day. Teachers of the other classes will be available in the schoolyard at bell time to greet parents and answer any questions.
Please dress for the weather - if the forecast is for hot and humid days, please make sure students are dressed for the conditions.
Please make sure your child is aware of their arrangements for dismissal/after school. Inform your child’s teacher if there is a change to the regular dismissal plan for the first day.
Bus lists and After School Program lists will be followed unless we are notified.
Changes to dismissal plans - please make sure your child is aware of their arrangements for dismissal/after school. If it is necessary to change your regular dismissal plan, please send a note to the teacher in the yellow Communication Folder. If the change happens throughout the day, you must phone the office (902-727-2980). Make every effort to call the school before 12:00 noon unless there is an emergency change to the dismissal plan. Teachers will not be checking emails or receiving texts while they are teaching and your message may be missed. *** Your cooperation in this matter is required as we want to make sure everyone gets home safely and on time.***
