Periodically individual districts reviews complete submissions and selects products for student testing.
Three districts are needed to test, and will be listed in the second column.
A date will appear in the 'Review' once chosen for further testing & review.
Samples should only be sent by district request.
To track items chosen for evaluation, see the NPD Testing Scores page: http://bit.ly/NFBGnpdfullview
Student testing results are uploaded by the 3+ districts
Student averaged acceptable rating is usually considered >3.75
An item may be fast-tracked directly to NIR if it meets >= 3.75 after only two districts test. This allows faster on-boarding for a product of extraordinary acceptability.
6. After student testing is completed and uploaded information reviewed:
Members’ product forecasting is collected for the next contract period.
The contracted distributor (GFS) conducts selected product price solicitations
A minimum of 80 cases/month is required for products (exceptions are seasonal and low usage items, i.e., spices)
The NFBG Executive Committee reviews the price solicitations and decides which products are added to the Market Basket
GFS informs members when products are available to order
Please note: Items can be resubmitted for changes in nutrition, pack size, or branding. Any resubmitted items will lose all previous testing data and be considered only on the merits of the most recent NPD assigned.
