Breakthrough Stars

The “Breakthrough Star” Award is given to an actor who can best described as unexpected.  Someone who either started as a minor character and ended up becoming a central member of the cast, was the most frequently mentioned by audience members, or who simply surprised me with their previously undiscovered talents. This does not mean they were the most talented or the most central actor in the performance, but that their talent was an especially surprising treat, and hopefully the start of a long theatrical career. These awards are typically given to supporting characters for their first production. Awards are given on the last night of production during the Director's closing speech.
