I graduated May 1998 from Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Psychology and my certification in early childhood and elementary education. After graduating from college, I decided to further my education and received my Masters in Special Education at Seton Hill College. After receiving my Master, I was hired by the Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 as the teacher at the Cambria County Detention Center Emergency Shelter Care. I worked for the IU8 for three years before being hired on August 6, 2002 at Greater Johnstown School District. When I was first hired by GJSD, I was teaching learning support at the high school level. During my 18 years at Greater Johnstown School District, I taught Learning Support at both the High School and East Side Elementary. I have also taught life skills at East Side Elementary and the Apartment Program at the high school. Most recently I have been teaching Emotional Support at the high school.
While teaching at the district, I decided to continue my education and receive my administration in special education papers at Saint Francis University. I have also received training in the Student Assistance Program (SAP) and became a trainer in Crisis Intervention (CPI).
Helping all children have a successful year is my main goal. I believe all children have different strengths and can excel academically. I strive to find the unique interests and talents of every student who enter my classroom. I am committed to motivate students and keep them actively involved in the learning process.
I welcome involvement from the parents and the Johnstown community. Through this partnership, I believe we can create the best possible opportunities for learning for our students. Communication is an important part of that partnership. I am available to speak to you anytime via email, which is checked daily or you can contact me any time from 1:45 pm-3:00pm at 533-5601 ext. 5502
