Unit 1 Numbers and Routines: September 1-September 30th
This unit focuses on counting in sequential order, utilizing the number line and the hundreds grid. Count to 120 starting at any number. Read and write numerals to 120. Write number words and be able to correlate number words with the written numeral. Daily calendar routine will be practiced. Count forward and backward on a number line or number chart.
Unit 2 Addition and Subtraction: October 1-October 27th
Unit 3 Properties of Operation: October 29th-November 13th
Unit 4 Place Value: October 16-December 16th
Unit 5 Adding and Subtracting within 100: December 17-Feb 1
Unit 6 Geometry: February 2-March 2
Unit 7 Fractions: March 3-April 5th
Unit 8 Measurement: April 6-April 18th
Unit 9 Time: April 19-May 9
Unit 10 Data Interpretation May 10-June 6th
Grade Level Summary:
In Grade 1, instructional time should focus on four critical areas: (1) developing understanding of addition, subtraction, and strategies for addition and subtraction within 20; (2) developing understanding of whole number relationships and place value, including grouping in tens and ones; (3) developing understanding of linear measurement and measuring lengths as iterating length units; and (4) reasoning about attributes of, and composing and decomposing geometric shapes.
