Hello! My name is Evelyn Stillwell and this will be my ninth year teaching Science at TCGIS.
I am Canadian but grew up in both Germany (my Mum is German) and Canada (my Dad is Canadian). I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science (Biology-Psychology), a Bachelor’s degree in Education (secondary science), and a Master’s degree in Science (Biology), all from Canada.
I now live in the TCGIS neighborhood. I still miss Canada but I love living in this neighborhood – Como Park is great and I also feel very lucky that I can walk to work in about 3 minutes!
I attended an Immersion middle school and both of my children were in French Immersion so I have experience with immersion from the perspective of a student, parent, and now also as a teacher.
I like to read, cook, travel and, even when I am not teaching it, I like Science (especially Biology)… a lot! I worked for many years at the University level (at the University of New Brunswick in Canada and at the University of Minnesota). Over the years I have worked in everything from Entomology (go bugs!), to Ichthyology (go fish!), to Neurophysiology (go brains!) and a few things in between. I enjoy sharing my experience and enthusiasm for Science with my students. I am looking forward to a great 2022-23 school year with the 5th and 7th graders!
All students should be checking Google Classroom regularly and using their planners to record all homework assignments and upcoming tests. I may, however, on occasion include major assignments in the calendars below. Please click on the calendar to view any information.
