Background
I am originally from Globe, Arizona, a small copper mining town in the hills about 90-miles east of Phoenix. After graduating from Globe High School, I was an undergraduate at Arizona State University in Tempe, where I earned a B.S. in Psychology. I then left the Southwest for the Mid-Atlantic and graduate school at the University of Maryland. After earning an M.A. and a Ph.D. at UMD, it was on to the Midwest for a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Chicago, and then to Bloomington, Indiana for a Research Associate position at Indiana University. In 2012 I moved to the Southeast for my current faculty position in the Department of Psychology at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Georgia.

Free time
Mostly, my free time is dominated by our kids' schedules (currently 18, 16, and 13), which include all sorts of school, athletic, and musical activities.
Over the past few years we have taken up Spartan Racing, for which we have traveled all over the southeastern US. In the interest of doing a bit better on these runs and completing the obstacles, we have been trying to keep fit, by covering miles running and biking, and exercising and climbing walls at the gym.
Another favorite past time is movie watching. I used to like to keep track of the things we've watched but finding time for movies has declined and that for keeping records of what we've watched has vanished entirely. Also try to have music playing when exercising or taking it easy, and enjoy going to rock shows!
I also enjoy recreational reading, and try to have a healthy balance of novels and informative non-fiction. What I've read recently: Books List
