Georgetown University Bookstore is a full service store located in the Leavey Center. In addition to course materials, the bookstore is an Authorized Campus Store for Apple Computer offering an academic discount on all Apple computers. It also stocks a complete selection of computer software, reference books and general reading titles. A complete array of apartment and school supplies, soda and snacks, and Georgetown University imprinted clothing and gifts are available for purchase. Fax and shipping services are also available. GOCard, American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa are all accepted.

All members of the Georgetown community are required to carry a GOCard, an “all-in-one” ID card that streamlines and simplifies daily campus life. All students are expected to carry their GOCard on campus as a means of identification and present it when requested by University personnel. Issued to each registered student free of charge, the GOCard is used to permit access to residence halls, libraries and other secured buildings on the three campuses, as well as free transportation on the GUTS buses.

The GOCard also functions as a debit card by adding money through Deposit Stations, the Online Card Office, Student Account Refunds, or the GOCard Office. The GOCard is the preferred method of payment for the purchase of goods and services at the University bookstores, vending machines, copy machines, laundry machines, food establishments, and other businesses that are partners both on and off campus. Additionally, the GOCard is linked to meal plans, Flex Dollar account, library circulation, and the usage of athletic facilities.

Since 1983, the Georgetown University Alumni and Student Federal Credit Union (GUASFCU) has grown to become the largest student-run financial institution in the country with over $10 million in assets. As a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution GUASFCU provides convenient services which include checking and savings accounts, VISA debit and ATM cards, free online banking, draft imaging, direct deposit, overdraft protection, free QuickPay, domestic and international wires, money orders, Travelers Checks, and multiple loan offerings. The Corp is the largest completely student owned and operated organization in the country. In addition to its commitment to campus philanthropy, the Corp’s services include:

  • Vital Vittles, the only fully stocked grocery store on campus, located in the Leavey Center

  • Hoya Snaxa, a convenience store located in the Southwest Quad, which provides a variety of sandwiches, snacks, and beverages

  • Uncommon Grounds (Leavey Center), More Uncommon Grounds (MUG, Intercultural Center lobby)

  • Midnight Mug (Lauinger library 2nd floor): campus coffeehouses that offer a wide selection of beverages, fresh bagels, muffins, pastries, and sandwiches.

The Corp also operates a convenient and inexpensive storage service for students who would like to store their belongings over the summer or while they study abroad. The Corp employs over 200 Georgetown students every year in all of these services.

Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS)

The Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS) serves students, faculty, staff, and visitors going to and from the University Main Campus, the Law Center, Dupont Circle, Rosslyn, and Arlington. The GUTS schedule can be viewed on the web.

Parking

Students who reside in residence halls, University-owned townhomes, in the District of Columbia, or in the North Arlington area are not authorized to obtain on-campus parking decals. Depending on availability, students living off campus and outside of the District of Columbia and North Arlington areas may be able to purchase parking decals for satellite parking. Bicycles

Outdoor racks are provided on campus for students’ bicycles, and bicycles may only be parked on those designated racks. Additional information is available at http://sustainability.georgetown.edu/bicycling/.

Capitol Bikeshare

Two docking stations for this region-wide bicycle sharing system are located near Georgetown. One is located just outside the front gates at 37th St. and O St., and a second is at 34th St. and Wisconsin. For additional information, visit http://www.capitalbikeshare.com/.

Public Transportation Information

The University is served by the G2, D2 and D6 Metro-bus routes. Check the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) (http://www.wmata.com/) website for schedules.

The closest Metro-rail stops are Rosslyn on the Blue/Orange Line and Dupont Circle on the Red Line. See the GUTS link for information on shuttle service to and from those locations.

ZipCar Car Sharing

ZipCar provides on-demand, self-service cars by the hour or the day for personal and business needs. The low hourly and daily rates include gas, insurance, maintenance, and parking. Visitor Information

Airports

Three airports provide service to the Washington, D.C. area

  • Reagan National Airport (DCA)

    • The closest airport to the Georgetown Campus, about 15 minutes away, and has its own Metro stop on the Blue and Yellow lines.Taxis also serve the airport

  • Dulles International Airport (IAD)

    • Located approximately 25 miles west of Washington, it can be reached by shuttle van, taxi or using airport van service between the airport and the West Falls Church Metro station located on the Orange/Silver line. There is also the 5A Airport bus from Rosslyn Metro station to Dulles Airport

  • Baltimore/Washington International Airport

    • Located approximately 40 miles north of campus, it can be reached via commercial shuttle vans and taxi service to/from the Washington area. The Airport also has a free connector bus that serves the MARC Commuter Rail and Amtrak station, which provides train service to Washington's Union Station, located on the Red Metro line. Additionally, the B30 Airport bus also runs every forty minutes from the airport to the Greenbelt Metro station, locaaed on the green line.
