This program is designed to immerse incoming students into the rigors of college life while providing academic, financial, and social preparation for the first-year university experience. The five-week residential program includes enrollment in credit bearing courses tought by experienced faculty. Students improve study skills, enhance time management, and engage in leadership development to build capacity for academic success. The dates for the program are May 30,2020 to July 2, 2020.

It begins with an all-expense paid experience at the Aspen Ideas Festival June 27-July 3, 2020, where Scholars learn from inspiring global leaders and build connections with peers from around the world. Scholars receive ongoing mentorship, leadership development, and $1,000 in funding to launch a community change project to make a difference in their hometowns during the following school year. The Center for Native American Youth, in partnership with Columbia University’s Summer Immersion Program for High School Students, is offering one full-tuition, residential scholarship for a Native student to attend a 3-week pre-college program during summer 2020 in New York City. The CNAY-Columbia scholarship covers the cost of housing, tuition, weekday meals, coursework materials, and other required student services. The estimated value of the scholarship is over $10,000. *Students are financially responsible for their own travel to and from the program, as well as spending money for incidentals, souvenirs, and recreational activities.

Healthcare Exploration Program will focus on providing high school students interested in careers that can be applied in the Healthcare setting with pre-college job shadow experience. Students should have an interest in careers such as nursing, business, health information management, laboratory, respiratory, radiology, surgery, primary care, information technology, pharmacy, public health, quality, epidemiology, physical therapy, or social work. Program will accept 4 - 6 students per session, through a competitive application process. Awardees will be selected by CGH's Board Committee. There are two, four-week sessions: June 1 - June 26 and July 6 - July 31. Students may only participate in 1 session per year. Applicants must reapply annually if they wish to participate more than one year. Program hours/days are Monday - Friday, 8 am to 12 pm. Students will be required to come at 7 am on certain rotation days, but will be notified. Students will receive a stipend of $500 per session.
Qualifications:
This program equips high-achieving high school juniors from low-income backgrounds with the knowledge, confidence, and resources to apply to top colleges.
