New rule for 2020
MANDATORY Tag-in of all Market Animals will take place on the Third Saturday in May at a designated location. All Calves must be tagged no later than May 31st in order to exhibit at the Genesee County Fair. In the event of a conflict, the Superintendent must be contacted BEFORE the designated tag-in-date for other arrangements to be made. To qualify for Rate of Gain, all calves must be supervised by the Superintendent or authorized personnel during the May weigh-in.
Everyone showing a Dairy Feeder must have their Calf Tagged by May 31.
If you want to enter for Rate of Gain your calf or calves must be weighed in.
Dairy Feeder Calf tagging and weigh in will be Saturday May 16 from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Stiles Hay Farm.
Weigh in will begin after the lambs are finished weighing in.
Rules to follow when you arrive:
Line up and leave you calves on your trailer until it is your turn to back into the barn.
Do not back in until the person ahead of you is finished loading their calves.
Do not park and then walk your calves to the barn.
If for some reason you cannot not make weigh in contact Myself, Ellen Mills, Kate Parrish, or Barry Narrin by May 1st in order to make other arrangements to Tag your Calves.

Great news with the adoption of our new by-laws,the Dairy now has a new Sub committee run by our participating youths. November 4th will be the start of a new chapter in the Dairy where our kids will lead the way into the future. Our November meeting will now include the Election of a Youth Chairperson, youth Vice-Chairperson, and Youth Secretary.
By-Laws adopted
Article II. Constitution
All youth and adults enrolled in the Genesee County 4-H Youth Program are eligible for membership on the Dairy Developmental Committee. Each member is a single voting Representative, excluding the acting chairman, unless to break a tie. All Youth enrolled in the Genesee County 4-H Youth Program are eligible for the membership on the Youth Dairy Committee. Each member is a single voting Representative for their primary club within the Youth Dairy Committee, excluding the acting youth chairman, unless to break a tie. The Youth committee clubs will receive up to four votes on voting items with the exception of elections. The Youth committee will receive a total of four votes for final votes with the Dairy Developmental Committee agenda items. Membership on the Dairy Developmental Committee(s) shall be open to everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, religion, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status, or family status.
Article III. Organization, officers, & duties.
(A) The Dairy Developmental Committee shall meet and organize, and from their members, they shall elect at the committee meeting, for a term of two years, a Chairperson, Dairy Vice-Chairperson, Feeder Calf Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, and Treasurer, whose duties shall be to conduct the business of the Dairy Developmental Committee. Each Officer will count as one vote, excluding the acting chairman, unless to break a tie. Officers will be elected in odd years. The election will take place at the November meeting of that calendar year.
Duties of the committee members include but not limited to the following:
Chairperson (Superintendent)
Oversees all meetings and the organization and management of the dairy at the fair, the dairy and feeder show, prizes and trophies for the dairy and feeder shows, scheduling of events and meetings, locate judges for the Dairy and Feeder shows, and to oversee the committee duties.
Vice Dairy Chairperson (Dairy Vice Superintendent) – over Dairy Cows and Heifers
Responsible for the dairy side of the barn, Including; organizing the Gallon of milk sale, oversee the shifts in the dairy booth, and oversee the Large animal super show.
Vice Feeder Chairperson (Feeder Vice Superintendent) – Oversees Feeder Calves
Feeder calf Vice will be in charge of the dairy portion of the Small animal Super-show, overseeing Feeder calves during fair, and youth barn duties.
Secretary
Will be responsible for committee meeting minutes, recording results in both the small and large animal super shows (unless the member is related to a youth showing)
Treasurer
Will be responsible; to keep accurate records of the daily expenses of the committee, donations, accounting of the dairy booth sales, and to write checks for scholarships.
(B) The Youth Dairy Committee shall meet and organize, and from the youth members, they shall elect at the committee meeting, for a term of two years, a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, and Secretary, whose duties are to present ideas, changes, or suggestions to the Dairy Developmental Committee, and vote and comment on agenda items. All clubs will count as up to four votes on youth committee items. The Youth Dairy Committee will count as up to four votes(the votes can be split) on Dairy Developmental Committee agendas. Officers will be elected in odd years. The election will take place at the November meeting of that calendar year.
1. Clubs will receive a single vote for each member in attendance, limited to four total club votes.
2. Splitting the youth vote.
i. If the youth committee cannot come to a consensus on an agenda item the vote toward the agenda item can be split, the vote can be split into yes and no votes based on the percentage of the vote in quarter increments, with each quarter resulting in a single yes or no vote. The split vote will then be entered as the youth vote on an agenda item up for discussion with the Dairy Developmental Committee.
ii. To split the vote the youth Dairy Committee shall have a straight up and down vote of the members present at the time of the vote.

Article V. Voting / Introduction of new agenda items
The Committees (Youth and Main) can enter for Vote the addition of an item to the agenda for discussion.
For an item to be on the agenda for general discussion, it must be submitted for Review to both the Main Committee and the Youth Committee prior to the next meeting.
(A) Order of operations for an agenda item
1. Item is submitted for review no less than 7 days prior to the next committee meeting, using 1 of the methods listed; Email to gc4hdc@yahoo.com, Dairy Committee Facebook page, Or by using the comment section on the Dairy website www.gc4hdc.org.
2. Item is then placed on the agenda for general discussions
3. The committees will have until the next meeting to review the item(s) for general discussion.
4. Once the details of the item have been reviewed (in general discussion); the item will be placed on the agenda for the next meeting for an up or down vote.
(B) Fast Track rule
If an item needs to be immediately placed on the agenda and have general discussions outside of the steps outlined above the Committees must vote to discontinue the rules, if the vote is for discontinuing the rule the item will be placed on the agenda for that meeting and be voted on.
(C) Counted Votes
• Each officer of the Dairy Developmental Committee will have a single vote, excluding the acting Chairperson, unless to break a tie
• Youth Committee will count as four votes(votes can be split pursuant to the rule outlined in Article III.)
In the event a tie cannot be resolved, the item will be voted on by a straight up or down vote with all youths and committee members present.
Article VI Amendments
These Bylaws may be amended by proposing an amendment and by a two-thirds vote of the Dairy Development committee membership present at the regularly scheduled meeting. Membership must be notified before any Bylaw proposals or changes are made.
Old Article V now Article VII
The Barn gets a new look this year, Thanks to all the hard work from our youth members. They worked hard building and painting them and the new gates really set the barn up nice this year.
Along with the new gates we got some of our fill dirt in to help level the floor and our upper lights fixed

Our Dairy Trailer gets a new look in time for the fair Thanks to some help from Eagle Scout Reese Miller, the Hartmann Family and Tom Roke
Reese Miller put in a lot of hard work and time into our trailer this year he replaced the flooring, painted the inside cabinets and the outside of the trailer along with new decals to really make the trailer stand out.
The Hartmanns (Ann and Matt), for setting up the project with the Eagle scouts and blessed us with a space to have Reese work on the trailer, Ann and Matt Hartmann also donated new LED lights! that really made the trailer shine.
Tom Roke donated his time and fixed all of our electrical issues
