About Me

I began teaching 6th grade in 1994 when I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in elementary education. I achieved National Board

Certification in 2005 and a certification from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to teach Academically Gifted Students. My current license is in K-6 - all subjects and K-9 English Language Arts.

I have presented or collaborated on presentations at several local, state and national educational conferences including Gaston County's Teaching and Learning Conference, The North Carolina Middle School Association Conference, The North Carolina Academically Gifted and Talented Conference as well as the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development National Conference in New Orleans, LA. I am a Pinnacle Leader in Gaston County which means I have access to additional training and technology and I help other teachers learn to integrate technology wth their students.

I have spent most of my classroom time in the 6th grade and have enjoyed helping students make the transition to middle school. I have a passion for integrating technology into the curriculum and am always looking for way to provide my students with a 21st Ce

ntury education.

I grew up in Charlotte and attended West Mecklenburg High School and Calvary Christian School. I then attended Appalachian State University where I graduated in 1994. I started teaching at Pinewood Elementary and moved up to the middle school with the first 6th grade class. I have a wonderful husband ,Todd, who is a financial advisor here in town and is deeply committed to our community. I am also "Aunt Sissy" to my amazing nepew, Gavin and incredible niece Zoe. I love to travel, whether it's close to home or far and wide! I also love to read and watch movies, especially SciFy and fantasy.
