The Duesenberg Brothers

Each year Garner celebrates Duesey Days. The town celebration gets its name from Frederick and August Duesenberg. The Duesenberg brothers had their meager beginning in a bicycle shop on Main Street in Garner.

The famous brothers began as bicycle mechanics, but then left Garner and moved on to motorcycles and then finally automobiles. They gained fame for building a luxurious, powerful, and fast vehicle known as the Duesenberg in the 1920's and 1930's. Fine woods, leathers, and fabrics were always used. Silk, ebony, and silver were used in one town car, for example. They sold for between $12,750 and $25,000.Any remaining Duesenberg cars today are extremely valuable. The car pictured below sold for over 10 million dollars at auction!
