I am an American, Son, Father, Teacher, Investor, and Global Citizen.
I am from Garland ISD and graduated from South Garland High School in 2001 with distinctions as a Texas Scholar. I attended College at the University of Houston and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Arts in History and Religion. I also attended Southern Methodist University and graduated with a Master's in Global Studies and Human Rights in 2017.
Professionally, I am certified in Social Studies 8-12 (Composite), I started my teaching career as a long term substitute Teacher in Fort Bend ISD from 2007-2009 and later as a long term substitute Teacher in Mesquite ISD from 2009-2011. My first full-time teaching position was in 2011-2012 at Lakeview Centennial High School, teaching World Geography. Since 2012, I have taught World Geography, AP Human Geography, Sociology, AP Psychology, AP Government, and AP African American Studies at Sachse High School. I have also been a reader for AP Human Geography for 5 years, and Question Leader for AP African American Studies. I am always seeking new ways to improve my craft and since 2013 I have attended multiple conferences throughout the country, such as; the Texas Alliance of Geographic Educators, American Geographical Society, American Association of Geographers, the Texas Graduate of Liberal Studies Symposium, the National Association of Multicultural Educators, the Dallas Federal Reserve Conference, and the National Council for the Social Studies. I am completely invested in learning and teaching multiple Social Science disciplines.
Personally, I enjoy traveling and I have been to 20 countries in 10 years. I have had the privilege to travel to various Pacific and Caribbean beach destinations, Canada, Europe, Asia, Central America, and South America. I have also had the privilege to tour 7 ancient ruins; 3 Aztec, 3 Mayan, and 1 Incan civilization.
My passion is to teach, influence, motivate, inspire, and support young people. I hope to make an impact in your life. I look forward to working with you this school year.
