Chem 19 Mastering Chemistry online homework can be accessed on your Canvas page and clicking on "MyLab and Mastering"

Immediately after each day's lecture, do the following:

1. Identify the topics that were covered in that day's lecture

2. Do all the "in-chapter" problems corresponding to the textbook section

3. Do all the "end-of-chapter" problems listed in the Google spreadsheet (the problems listed in BOLD are required to be turned in through the WileyPlus online homework system).

Summary of Due Dates

Question #1: I need step-by-step help signing up for Mastering Chemistry

Answer: Here is a step-by-step guide (with screenshots and pictures) for how to sign up for Mastering Chemistry.

Question #2: When I click on "My Lab and Mastering", nothing pops up!

Answer: You need to disable your browser's pop-up browser.

Question #3: When I click on "My Lab and Mastering", I get the error message "Your session has ended."

Answer: Try using Google Chrome as your browser and use "Incognito Mode" to access Mastering Chemistry. You may also want to clear your browser's cache (instructions for clearing cache in Chrome).

Question #4: On the website, I am getting multiple options for purchasing the textbook (e.g. modified Mastering Chemistry vs. non-modified Mastering Chemistry), which one do I purchase?

Answer: If you access Mastering Chemistry through your Canvas site, you should only be seeing ONE option. So try the process again, but follow these instructions specifically:

• 1. Login to your SMC Canvas account at online.smc.edu. Click on the MyLab and Mastering Link on the left bar.

  2. Click on "Open MyLab & Mastering"

  3. Create a Pearson Username & Password (or login if you already have one).

  4. Click the button below the area marked "Use a Credit Card or PayPal" to purchase the Pearson Bundle Package and select the specific option that you want.

  5. Going forward, you will be logging in to Mastering Chemistry through the same process (login to Canvas and then click on "MyLab and Mastering").

Question #5: I am being asked for a Course ID. What is the Mastering Chemistry Course ID for this course?

Answer: If you access Mastering Chemistry through your Canvas site, the system will NOT ask you for a Course ID. If you are being prompted for a course ID, this means you are trying to access Mastering Chemistry through an incorrect route. Please follow the instructions below specifically to access Mastering Chemistry the correct way:
