This unit will focus on the transferring of energy and the ability to do work. Our anchor project is the construction of a wind turbine that raises objects. This will be a multiple class period project.
Assignments for this unit
- Gravitational Potential Energy Lab (hanging stuff)- Look up and give example of GPE if you missed it.
- Work and Power notes- see below
- Work and Power on stairs- Look up examples of how work and power are related if you missed it.
- Energy Notes- WS is below. Notes are from the "Types of energy ppt" below.
- Wind Turbine Construction Lab and analysis- If you missed this major assignment, you need to write a 3+ page report on wind energy. INCLUDE:
- HOW a wind turbine works
- AMOUNT of power they produce
- ADVANTAGES of using wind power
- DISAVANTAGES of using wind power
- WHERE and HOW MUCH wind power is there in OREGON?
- Diagrams/graphs help, and they count as part of the page count.
- Energy Plug n Chug Problems- found on Mr. Larwin's web page. Link is below.
- If you missed the Bouncy ball lab- Get a bouncy ball and design a lab that solves this problem:
- What happens to the bounce height of a ball if you change its temperature?
- You need 5 different temperatures
- Look on google classroom for a lab write-up and sample lab.
