We will be completing interest profiles about ourselves to complete the Get To Know Yourself Activity. The first 4 steps are due this week. It must be completed before next week when we work on Step 5.

Google Classroom - Get To Know Yourself Activity

Naviance (Step 1) - this site isn't working, so here is what we will do...

  • For the personality style box, you will use the True Colors Personality Test paper I provide you, and then use this link to look at your answer.
  • For the Top 5 Career Matches, you will use this website, Occupational Outlook Handbook. In the Select Occupations By section, choose their credentials (or leave it the way it is, you can change choices if you don't find what you are looking for) and search... pick any 5 careers that you read about that sounds interesting.

Learning Style Website (Step 2)

  • Go to "students" tab at the top of the page, select "Self-Assessments", Choose "What's your learning style." Answer the 20 questions, record your results in the Learning Style section of your assignment (the percents for each learning style, and then the bullet points for what can help make you a better learner; choose 4)

O*Net (Step 3)

  • Go to "Tell us what you like to do" and click start (it's purple). Click "Next" through the instructions, answer the statements about yourself. When finished answering the statements, it will give you results. Record the numbers on your assignment, be sure the numbers are next to the correct words. Click on your highest score. It will give you the definition and things "They Like", record both of these in your box. Continue clicking next, select the level of school you may want to have (this can change if you don't find the results you want). The last screen will show you careers that are best matched to the answers you previously selected. Record any 3 jobs that sound most appealing to you!

Work Importance Locator (Step 4)

  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and find under "assessments" "Work Importance", click on it. Select "Quick start". You are choosing categories of how important these things are to you. There must be four in each category or it won't let you submit. Click "View Results" and on the pop up click "OK". Record your scores on your assignment. Be sure to match the word to the number you received. Then record the definition, it is next to the highest score. Then click the blue word that you scored the highest on. It will bring up careers that matched your responses, they are in alpha order. Choose any 3 that sound interesting to you and record on your assignment.
