Team 6-1 Home Page

Dear Team 6-1 Parent(s):

We hope you enjoyed a summer break filled with family, friends and fun! We wanted to take a moment to welcome you to West Middle School and our Team 6-1 family! Your core class teachers include: Mrs. Few (Social Studies), Mrs. Quinn (Math), Ms. Maniaci (ELA), and Mrs. Hebert (Science). It has been said that,

“Success is not a place at which one arrives, but rather the spirit with which one undertakes and continues the journey.”

This means a couple of things. First, it means that although the end result (grades) are important, the journey that we take along the way as we curiously investigate the world around us, stretch our thinking, grow in character, and become a true community of learners is just as important as that end goal of grades. What this also means is that students, parents and the Team 6-1 teachers work together to have a successful expedition through sixth grade, we need to do it in the spirit of:

* Being there - Giving 100% in all that we do

* Being respectful and responsible - showing self-discipline,

* Planning, setting and meeting goals,

* Being a curious explorer – get your hands dirty and S-T-R-E-T-C-H your brain,

* Making positive choices and having great attitudes!

Sixth grade is an important time for social and academic growth as students switch classes, take on more responsibility and meet students from other schools. We will take steps together working towards each child’s success as we leave elementary school behind, explore middle school and prepare for the future. As we travel the road of this sixth grade trip, we will be challenged to grow in many ways and, if we are willing to work hard, we will love the direction that this journey will take us!

We look forward to working with you and your family as we partner together to make your sixth grade year a success. We hope that you are as excited as we are to begin this fantastic voyage!

Sincerely, Team 6-1
