As the culminating project for the Social Studies Methods course, you are charged with the task of developing a comprehensive unit plan on a topic of your choice tied to your student teaching experience. Journey to China is a sample of how your Digital Unit Plan should be constructed.
The unit must be constructed in Google Sites and include:
Unit Plan Outline (Backward Design)
Five to seven complete lessons that include:
California content standards
Goals and objectives
Lesson introduction (entry-level assessment, anticipatory set, accessing prior knowledge)
Lesson body (content delivery, guided practice, critical-thinking)
Lesson closure
Assessment (formative and summative)
All lesson materials (presentations, readings, assessments, surveys, primary sources, photos, music, art, student samples, support tools, etc.) saved as attachments and/or sub-pages to each lesson
Websites and tutorials for technology tools utilized
Websites for subject-specific content
The unit must show evidence of:
Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK)
Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK)
Literacy development (strategies to promote content literacy, visual literacy and digital literacy)
Strategies to support learning for English Learners, struggling readers and gifted students
