Research Interests

Critical areas of focus are the functional and connectional profiles of neural regions linked with emotional and self-regulatory processes, such as the amygdala, anterior cingulate, insula, and medial prefrontal cortex.

I am investigating these processes in healthy adolescents and adults as well as those suffering from anxiety, attention deficit disorder and borderline personality disorder.

Social Stress & Reward

I am currently interested in how both social stress and reward processing affect behavioral and neural responding during tasks but also during subsequent resting periods.

Social Anxiety, Reward and Comorbidity

I am also interested in better understanding the reward processing mechanisms underlying social anxiety symptomatology and how such processes may predict the onset of depression and substance abuse.

Psychological domains of focus are reward/rejection sensitivity and goal-based attentional inhibition, whereas neural regions of interest include the amygdala, striatum, anterior cingulate and medial prefrontal cortex.
