Welcome students, parents and teachers to this classroom site. The goal of this site is to make it a one stop place for chemistry resources. Resources are arranged by unit titles typically found in chemistry textbooks for easy reference. Almost all resources have been gathered and presented as such or adapted from various online and textbook materials. Under the home tab, a calendar of events and assessment dates can be found.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that a curriculum based on the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) calls for a shift in instructional practices. Any framework that calls for active involvement of the student in the use of science practices to construct knowledge and skills is most appropriate for instruction. Thus you will see many traditional labs modified to give students more autonomy in design of the labs or projects.
Most units and lessons incorporate 3D design (combining DCIs with practices and cross cutting concepts) that works well with the subject matter.
I have incorporated some common formative assessments that closely mirror the summative assessments given at the end of each unit.
