Carolyn and I are excited for the opportunity to partner with you in ministry. We both grew up in Pittsylvania County, Virginia near Chatham.
My spiritual roots go back to my grandmother’s front porch, where she shared many stories from the Bible. I invited Jesus into my life at the age of 8 at Oakland Methodist Church.
Sadly, I drifted away from God and the church as a teenager. But God never drafted away from me. At the age of 25 God turned my life around. The following year -- sensing God’s calling into ministry – I entered college. I graduated from Asbury College with a BA degree in 1983. I received my Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1987. I was ordained an Elder in the Virginia Annual Conference in 1989.
Carolyn and I served Virginia churches in Franklin County, Lynchburg, Prince William, Fairfax, Fredrick, and Loudoun.
We have lived in Winchester since the summer of 2018.
We have 3 grown children and three grandchildren -- Each child has a child. We spend a lot of time with our kids and grandkids. If you don’t see Carolyn at church on Sunday morning it is most likely because she is somewhere with the grandkids.
We try to go to the beach for a week each summer at OBX with all the kids, spouses and grandkids. It’s always fun and we are looking forward to a trip planned this summer in July.
Carolyn retired 2 years ago and is living a life of leisure doing, exactly what she wants to do -- when she wants to do it. (Her words – not mine – ha-ha) In her former life, she was an office manager for a civil engineering company where she worked for 23 years. She now manages our household and sometimes our dog Max, volunteers at Winchester Medical Center, and enjoys going to the gym daily
to get her fix of exercise and socialization with other retirees who frequent the gym around 7:00 a.m. on weekdays. She has enjoyed getting to know the people at our current church and, of course is looking forward to meeting all of you.
Blessings,
Pastor Larry and Carolyn Craddock
