Medical Services

Emergency Response

School nurses routinely assess illness and treat minor injuries on campus, but they also have the training, skills and resources to assist in the event of a more serious emergency. Response activities include identifying emergent situations, managing the emergency until relieved by emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, communicating the assessment and interventions to EMS personnel and following up with the health care provider.

Frisco ISD schools have the following on hand to assist in the event of an emergency:

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AEDs)
  • Epi-Pens or epinephrine (used to treat severe allergic reactions)
  • Albuterol (bronchodilator that relaxes muscles in the airways and increases air flow to the lungs) for students diagnosed with asthma & a signed parent consent
  • Emergency first aid kits including tourniquets
  • Protective gear and equipment

Please contact your school nurse for more detailed information regarding emergency protocol.
