Welcome to Sonntag!

The following are important things to know to keep your child healthy, and to help us be able to care for your child's health while they are away from you:

1.  During the summer months, please make sure your child's immunizations are current for the upcoming school year. This is especially important for our new kindergarten students who will be beginning school for the first time. If your child is a new student, whether kindergarten or just new to our district, please complete any incomplete immunizations and bring an updated copy of your child's immunization record to the Sonntag Elementary front office so your child can be assigned a class and begin school on the first day each August. *The State of Texas requires all immunizations be completed, or that you have obtained and notarized the proper immunization exemption form from the State of Texas that allows your child to attend school without having completed the required immunizations for reasons of conscience or religion. http://www.dshs.texas.gov/immunize/school/exemptions.aspx  This form can be ordered online, but can take about 2 weeks to receive in the mail, so plan early.

2. Get any check-ups your child is due to have, especially for asthma, severe food or insect allergies, diabetes or seizures, and have your doctor complete and sign the forms you can find on the FISD website http://www.friscoisd.org/departments/health-services/home   Many factors play a role in whether asthma is under control, and regular check-ups with your doctor help keep your child healthy and experiencing fewer asthma attacks. Environmental and climate changes can play a big role in your child's asthma control, as well as using the proper medications at the proper times as prescribed by your doctor.

3.  All medications to be given in the clinic must be provided by the parent, and the proper paperwork must be signed for these medications also.  The Parents Request for Medication Administration form can also be found at the above website, and must be signed by the parent, giving the nurse permission to administer their child's medication at school.

4.  Please, please do not send your child to school if they are sick or just complain of not feeling well, especially if they have fever, vomiting, diarrhea, earaches, sore throats, etc!  Children are not allowed at school with temperatures of 100.0 or greater, and even if your child's temperature is a low-grade fever below 100.0, they are still not feeling well and will spread illness, and not be able to perform well.

5.   It is very important to notify the front office in writing of any changes to your home, work and cell phone numbers for all guardians and emergency contacts in our computer system. Please update these as soon as they change, as it is very important for us to be able to reach you not only for educational issues, but for medical issues. Medical emergencies frequently arise for children, and it is critical for us to be able to reach you quickly.
