Welcome to Mr. Monsante’s Crew!
Hello! My name is Gustavo Monsante. I was born and raised in Lima, Peru, and moved to the United States when I was 13. I’m bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from the University of North Texas. I’ve worked in early childhood education for over 10 years and received my teaching certification in 2014 through TEACH.
Before coming to Purefoy Elementary, I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade for 9 years at Lufkin ISD. For the past two years, I’ve had the opportunity to grow and learn while teaching 2nd grade here at Purefoy. This year, I’m excited to be teaching 3rd grade Math and Science, and I’m thrilled to continue being part of the Purefoy community.
I’m married to Ashley Monsante, and we have a daughter, Liliana, who will be starting 7th grade at Griffin Middle School. As a family, we love spending time together—whether it’s going for walks with our dog, Dexter, or enjoying hobbies like drawing, playing musical instruments, and gardening.
