The only expectation for homework at Norris Elementary will be a minimum of 20 minutes of reading per night. Research has shown students who do more reading at home are better readers and have higher math scores. We would encourage our families to take advantage of the time after school to model behavior proven to correlate with student success. We encourage activities such as playing outside, participating in extracurricular activities, eating dinner as a family and having fun being a child. Students will receive the instruction and content needed by grade level during the school day. Throughout the school year, teachers are assessing students and re-teaching, re-instructing and working closely with students during WIN time and during general instruction time.
There are a number of resources available to families interested in practicing and developing their specific skills. Please check the Norris website under resources to find these activities.
