Hannah McKerley

Hello! My name is Hannah McKerley. I am originally from Pensacola, FL and studied Public Relations at the University of West Florida. My first experience teaching was during my time as a volunteer in Apartadó, Antioquia, Colombia working with children ages pre-k through eleventh grade. Throughout my time in Apartadó I was able to learn Spanish and connect with so many people affected by violence and/or displacement. This opportunity led to great experiences such as traveling as an interpreter for a peace program, backpacking in Europe and working as a program director of a trade association. During the pandemic I had time to reflect and decided to try teaching in the United States.

Once I began teaching in the U.S. I realized the necessity for advocates for our students at home. I hope to be a support for each child's academic and emotional struggle. These eye opening experiences opened my heart to my students and the idea of changing the world by helping them grow.

I have spent the last two years as a teaching aide in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD and a bilingual Social Studies Teacher for Duncanville ISD. Last year, I taught fourth grade ELAR at Norris and I am so excited to work with you all this year!

Best,

Hannah McKerley
