Playaways

PLAYAWAYS ARE HERE!

We have continued to add digital audiobooks to our Gunstream Library and it has become one of the most requested items by our students in 3rd-5th grades. These grade levels will be able to check out these digital devices for 2 weeks at a time. If you would like to learn more please visit the following site by clicking on the image below:

Just a few bits of info about these wonderful devices:

• Students will check out the matching book along with the Playaway, so that they can follow the text while hearing the book being read.
• Playaways are valuable in the fact that students can learn new vocabulary, build fluency, improve reading inflection, improve comprehension and listening skills, learn new concepts and ideas, students with reading impairments can feel confident in their reading, and both auditory and visual learners will enjoy being introduced to new genres.
• Students can use their own ear buds/headphones or can purchase a pair from the library for $1.00.
• Playaways use rechargeable batteries. Please return Playaways that need a charge. We will replace batteries right away.
• Playaways are valuable and quite expensive (Priced around $45-$80). Please be sure to have the conversation with your child about the responsibility that comes with checking out Playaways and the possibility of paying for the replacement of one if damaged or lost. We love our new digital audiobooks and want students to benefit from them for years to come.
