Meet Mrs. Honaker

Hi everyone!

My name is Peggy Honaker and I am super excited to begin my 18th year as the librarian at Fisher Elementary!  I have actually been at Fisher since it opened in 2001, teaching first grade / reading recovery for my first two years here and providing reading support as an ARI (accelerated reading instruction) teacher for three years before moving into the library in 2006.  Prior to teaching at Fisher, I taught fifth grade math and science in McKinney ISD.  I received both my undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies / Elementary Education and my graduate degree in Library Science from UNT.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Dave, for 32 year.  He is a corporate pilot and owns Four Winds Aviation flight school in Denton.  We have three amazing kids who all attended Fisher when they were younger.  My son, Tristan, is 28 years old and graduated from Texas A&M in 2018.  He is currently living and working in Ft Worth.  My daughter, Delaney, is 26 and she also graduated from Texas A&M in 2018.  She completed Law School at Texas Tech in May of 2021 and is an attorney in San Antonio. My youngest daughter, Trinity, is 22 and she graduated from UNT in 2021.  She is flight school right now and stays very busy riding horses and working on her small business. In my spare time I love to read, hang out with my family and friends, play with our 2 dogs, watch Netflix and spend time at the barn with my daughter and our horses.
