What skills can I do with my child to help prepare him/her for Kindergarten?
Fine Motor Skills:
Hold scissors correctly
Hold pencil correctly
Able to tie shoes/button buttons/zip zippers, etc.
Social Skills:
Know first and last name (and how to spell them)
Know address and phone number(s)
Know birthday and birth year
Academic Skills/School-related Tasks:
Able to follow multi-step directions
Identify letters/sounds
Practice sitting still/quiet for 5-10 minute durations
What time is lunch?
Kindergarten eats from 10:30-11:00 in the cafeteria.
Where do I meet my child at the end of the day?
Kindergarten exits the building out of the north side on Jaguar. If you walk to pick up your child you will meet us there. Then we walk around to the north side of the building with the remaining students to wait in the carpool line.
What should I send for snack?
Kindergarten has a 'working snack' in the afternoon. This means only dry, healthy snacks that can easily be eaten while working are acceptable.
What if I need to change transportation arrangements for my child for the day?
Please contact the front office at 469.633.3300 if changes need to be made and you haven't received confirmation from your child's teacher. Many times we are unable to check email and/or phone messages until after school and we definitely need this information.
Can I volunteer in some way?
Absolutely! We love our volunteers. Boals has many opportunities for you to be involved and a part of our learning community. Watch for specific information distributed from our PTA and your child's teacher. Thank you in advance for your support.
