Everybody needs an outlet. This page highlights my personal projects, hobbies, interests, and other works that have nothing to do with my professional life. Source code for most of my projects can be found on my GitHub page.
Arduino Projects
HexClock: My first Arduino project! A pretty standard clock arrangement, except the time and date are displayed as hexadecimal and binary numbers.
HexClock Touch: The same basic premise as HexClock, but this time I wanted to make it colorful using a TFT touch display.
The Game of Life: This is a simulation of Conway's Game of Life using a 32x16 LED matrix. A very interesting project that captivated me for several weeks. The keen observer will notice that the technical specs and case design for this project looks a lot like the HexClock. It should, because I re-purposed the hardware and case from that project. In fact, the circuitry is exactly the same as HexClock minus the DS3231 real time clock. Who needs a clock for a GoL simulation?
The Meeting Light: A handy wireless notification sign to let people know if I'm free, on an audio conference call, or on a video call, so they know if (and how) they can come into the room.
Woodworking
As an extremely amateur woodworker, I enjoy making things that are marginally useful or aesthetically pleasing. Sometimes I achieve neither goal. Here are some of my latest creations:
Mobile phone desk stands.
Walnut cutting board.
Drill press cabinet stand.
Light saber display case.
"Scrap wood challenge" stain can rack.
Tabletop tool holder. (Another scrap wood challenge. Note the fancy "live-edge" OSB design.)
Jigsaw Puzzle Board
Wireless phone and watch charger.
3-D Tic-Tac-Toe game.
Holiday village display tree.
Ring box.
Dice tower.
I also enjoy watching work others have done and try to learn from them.
