Hola, me llamo Señora Wilson. I have been teaching Spanish in Franklin Public Schools for over 20 years. This year I will be teaching all students in grades six through eight. I look forward to helping students acquire Spanish through songs, games and stories. I also enjoy investigating the cultures of the different Spanish-speaking countries with students. My goal is for students to enjoy learning another language and to want to use it outside of the classroom.

Course Goals:
The goal of the Spanish course at HMMS is to become more proficient in Spanish. As the year progresses students will learn to communicate more and more effectively about different topics and for different purposes. Students will learn Spanish in the same way they learned their first language; that means they will learn primarily by listening and reading in Spanish. Activities in class will include: listening to songs, listening to stories, creating stories, discusssing their lives, watching short films, reading about current events, playing games and exploring the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.
Class Materials:
Students are required to bring a pencil and charged Chromebook to each class. Sra. Wilson will be providing a folder in which to keep all class materials. The folder will be kept in the Spanish classroom.
Homework/Extra Practice:
Students will not have regular homework, therefore class attendance is very important. If students need extra practice, they should check Google classroom. In Google Classroom students will find vocabulary practice slideshows, copies of the stories we are working on in class and extra practice worksheets. They will also find a link to Garbanzo, our online reading program. Reading extra stories in Garbanzo is a great way to improve their Spanish! Sra. Wilson is also available for extra help during some Flex periods and after school by appointment.
Grading:
Students will be graded on the four communicative skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will also receive a grade for "Habits of Work and Learning". This grade will include preparedness for class and classwork. Students are allowed to retake assessments once they have completed extra practice activities located in Google Classroom.
