Hello friends,
My name is Luke Pretto and this will be my 11th full year of teaching. My first 10 yrs were with the St. Gabriel School family, but now I am extremely excited to be part of the St. Martha's Eagles team! I currently teach Grade Five.
I was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario, where I obtained a BA in Psychology. After my aspirations of being a shrink faded rapidly, I quickly turned to my second career choice, teaching, which is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Although "Dr." Pretto would've sounded pretty cool, "Mr." Pretto will suffice.
After moving out west to Vegreville, AB with my wife in 2006, I returned to university and received my BEd elementary after degree from the U of A.
Tack on another year in Gibbons, AB and a job offer my wife couldn't refuse to the timeline, and we found ourselves in Fort McMurray, AB in March of 2009. I quickly accepted a maternity leave position at St. Gabe's and haven't looked back since.
I enjoy watching movies, playing sports, travelling, and hanging out with my beautiful daughter Penelope and wife Jaclyn, who is a registered dental hygienist. I also had two "sons," Sydney and Symba (see below). Sydney has passed on, as of June 2015, and will be sorely missed. He really was a great companion and will forever be in our hearts. Symba has also passed on as of August 2018. Like his brother, he was our best friend who will be missed more than he knows. At least he is now reunited with his brother.
My favourite T.V. shows to watch are the Super Bowl, the Oscars, and any time the Steelers or Penguins are playing, who happen to be my favourite sports teams, in case you haven't figured that out yet. Just take one look in my classroom!
Well, that's all about me in a nutshell, take care and God Bless.
Sincerely,
Luke
P.S. The picture below is a little outdated now, that was me in my first year of teaching. Penelope is 16 months old in this photograph.
