WIDA Assessments
ACCESS for ELLs
Each student will take the ACCESS test annually in the Spring. The test consists of 4 sections: listening, speaking, writing, and reading.
WIDA Screener and MODEL
Each student will be given an entrance test upon their arrival in the program.
The MODEL test is used for Kindergarten, while all other grades will take the WIDA Screener test. The MODEL test will also be used for a student in any grade that takes a mid-year test. A mid-year test will become an option for students who score a certain overall score on the previous school year's ACCESS.
A Remote Screener has been created due to the current health crisis, in case a student can not be in school during the screening window. Students who are screened with the Remote Screener may need to be reassessed when they return to the school building.
All WIDA assessments are administered in accordance with NJDOE policy. In order to exit ESL services, a student must receive an overall score of 4.5 or higher.
