How do I register my child for the integrated preschool program?
The Fitchburg Integrated Preschool Program is an early childhood program for children aged 3 & 4 living in the city of Fitchburg. Most of our classrooms are "integrated," with up to 15 children in a class. Integrated classrooms provide a safe environment designed to meet the needs of children with and without an identified disability in the same setting.
There are eight general education slots in each classroom. The remaining seven slots are reserved for students who have identified special education needs.
Our integrated preschool program is unique because it enables all children involved to learn and discover at their developmental rate. General education students in our integrated classrooms learn to develop empathy and understanding for individual differences in others.
Annually, we have limited openings in the Integrated Preschool Program - Eligibility criteria include children being at least three years of age before September 1st, residing in the city of Fitchburg, and presenting with typically developing skills. Once all the openings are filled, the remaining applications will be placed on a waiting list. If you would like to apply, you can complete the preschool registration by going to the Fitchburg Public Schools website and clicking on ENROLLMENT.
Registration applications for the '25-'26 school year is closed.
*Special Education Services - If you or someone else thinks your child may be eligible for preschool special education services, please contact the special education department at 978-345-3200 x 27303 or your early intervention services coordinator. Your early intervention coordinator will refer your child to the Fitchburg Public Schools for a special education evaluation.
