* Class Participation - Students are to participate with a positive attitude. Review the SE-B WIN Music Rubric [link] to demonstrate the characteristics of a successful band member. Click THIS LINK to read through the rubric. Page 2 of the document is a behavior reflection paper.
* Class Preparation - Students earn 5 points for each class by bringing to class their instrument (2 points), music folder with book & music inside (2 points), and a pencil (1 point). Students who are not prepared for class will receive a Positive Participation Note.[link] This email is to involve parents/guardians in helping the student with organization as a reminder to bring the required materials to class. All items need to be brought to class a successful learning experience.
* Concert Participation -Performing is quite fun! After all the practice, the band shares the wonderful music with an audience. This is a very rewarding experience for the students! Concerts are curricular events, so all students are to attend. KEEP YOUR COACHES, DANCE INSTRUCTORS, ETC, INFORMED OF YOUR BAND CONCERTS. DO THIS IN ADVANCE, SO THEY CAN PLAN ACCORDINGLY. Participating in band concerts with all of the classes coming together as one band is a significant part of the ensemble experience. Missing the concert can lower the student's grade. Students who miss the concert will be given an alternative assignment.
* Check-in Assignments: Posture; Tone; Rhythm; Musical Style; and Note Reading are targets that musicians demonstrate in their instrument playing. Teacher feedback will be given in the area to help students improve. Click this link to see the Check-in Assignment Rubric [link].
