Domestic Violence

We, the students of Taylor Middle School, are partnering with other schools to help support the Department of Social Services. The end goal of this project is to raise funds to create a safe house in our county. At the moment, when emergency situations happen victims have to be put in hotels and it's not guaranteed there will be funding to help these victims with a lawyer or other supports.

There are gaps in funding for the domestic violence unit, and the lack of knowledge in the community need to stop. Do your part and come out to Liberty High School on Oct. 13th from 12-4 to gain awareness and help make Fauquier a safer community to live in. A community where it's okay to talk about problems and where we can work together to help serve all the people in Fauquier.

Join the movement! You can e-mail our teacher cathleen.beachboard@fcps1.org or Rochelle Fergusion the lead DSS worker from the county Ferguson, Rochelle rochelle.ferguson@dss.virginia.gov

Even if people in Fauquier just start talking about this issue it is a win for everyone...if we raise funds too that would be great. No matter what we will stand in the gap and begin to Shatter the Silence on Domestic Violence.

Sincerely,

Taylor Middle School in partnership with The Warrenton Youth Council and DSS
