Independent Study Program

Our independent study program provides an alternative to the classroom-based instructional mode for those students who meet the enrollment guidelines and may benefit from this approach.  It is an alternative strategy to meet district curriculum objectives.  It is NOT an alternative curriculum or a means of avoiding the compulsory education laws.

Independent Study students receive assignments during the weekly appointment. Work is due by the following week's meeting.

FBUSD has a partnership with Edgenuity which allows students to take courses online that meet both the California State Standards and the FBHS graduation requirements.

AVID 12

AVID’s Mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all

students for college readiness and success in a global society

The AVID class is designed to offer students who have been selected based on their work ethics and desire to learn the necessary skills and work habits to enable them to perform quality work and succeed at the college level. Tutorials, collaborative study groups, and AVID curriculum will be used to support the students. The hope is to assist each of our AVID students to succeed in their journey to college, trade school, and career.
