Born on 2nd Feb 1982, in a well-known city of Hyderabad (Sindh, Pakistan), Fahim is one of the youngest PhD in Sindh. After completing his Bachelors in Electronic Engineering from Mehran UET, Jamshoro, Pakistan in the year 2004 with GPA of 3.63, Fahim started working as Lecturer in the Dept. of Electronics and Telecommunication, Mehran UET. Very soon he was awarded fully funded scholarship for higher studies abroad. In April 2010 he returned back to his homeland after successfully completing his PhD in Optical Communication from University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom. Along with his Doctoral Degree, he brought appreciable amount of Research experience with himself. He is the author of 16 journal papers (with accumulative impact factor score of 5+), 20 conference publication and 3 books.
He was soon promoted to Assistant Professor in Department of Telecommunications in the year 2011 and to Associate Professor in year 2012. Active, Energetic, positive thinker, Fahim has taught 7 different courses in Bachelors programs and 10 courses Masters and PhD level. He has supervised/cosupervised 8 masters level projects, 30+ undergraduate projects and is also supervising one PhD student. Currently he is working as Associate Professor in Mehran UET since 2012. He has also secured numerous funding & grants totaling to amount worth of PKR 10325542. His research areas include Wireless & Optical Communications, Embedded systems for Telecommunication, and Signal Processing.
Along with teaching he has been involved in students counselling/grooming and advising matters to generating quarterly E-newsletters and leading different research groups. He is the Editor of FEECE e-Newsletter, a monthly newsletter from Mehran UET. Fahim is also founder of a Scholarship foundation which is working all by itself for the betterment of students of Mehran University since 2008. The scholarship foundation named “2KES Scholarship Foundation” is currently providing scholarship to 3 young intelligent students of Mehran. 2KES Scholarship foundation is just the result of strong leadership of Dr. Fahim.
He is also working with Information & Communication Technologies- Research and Development, Islamabad, Pakistan (ICTRD), Chartered Inspection & Evaluation Committe - Government of Sindh, and has remained Member Selection Board, Member Board of Studies, and Member Academic Council at various universities of Pakistan. He has also been member technical program committees of various national/international conferences such as NGMAST'14, CyberC'13, FIT'13, IMTIC'12 & 13, WSN4DC'13 etc. Dr. Fahim has also been very good in leading many local Project competitions organized in Mehran University or chairing poster sessions, tutorials or technical sessions. He has been resource person in many universities and at his own university for guest lectures, seminars and for different workshops.
Fahim has also started working on some of his other plans which includes countering one of the major problem our country is facing i-e the so called "access problem". He believes that majority of the population of this country does not have the ease of access to basic health, education, nutritional and other facilities. People living in far flung areas in our country cannot imagine a quality life because they do not have an access to the facilities we (population living in the main cities) are enjoying. Fahim intend to reduce this access problem to its minimum level by utilizing Information and Communication Technology in its full potential. Furthermore his immediate plans include to work on establishing telemedicine networks, sustainable energy methods (developing the human resource for establishing wind and solar energy systems) knowing the severe energy crisis our country in particular and 3rd world in general is facing.
