Class Policies and Procedures
Classroom Policies and Procedures:
Students are expected to attend class every day and arrive on time. The attendance policy outlined in the Student Handbook will be used in class.
Remember, cell phones and other electronic devices should be put away promptly at the beginning of class. If they are pulled out during class, they will be confiscated. Unless given specific permission, students are expected to have all headphones put away during class.
Homework is due on the due date at the beginning of the class period. Be sure to date your homework and list the assignment at the top of the page. By not completing homework on time, students miss much of the purpose behind the work. Late work is accepted for full credit with excused absences only. Work missed during an excused absence should be made up within 1 week of that absence. If the work is not made up within 5 days, the student will receive a 0. Students will still be allowed to turn in late work with the penalty described earlier. It is the student's responsibility to get the homework assignment and any missed notes. Any work assigned prior to the absence will be due on the date originally established or upon the student's return to school.
Any projects are due at the beginning of class on the assigned due date. Ten points will be deducted per school day late.
Bathroom breaks are not allowed during the first and last 10 minutes of class and should only be taken during independent work time unless it is an emergency. You must ask permission before leaving the classroom.
Classroom Behavior and Expectations:
You are expected to be in your seat and to begin working when the bell rings. Remain in your seat at the end of class until dismissed by the teacher.
Be prepared. You must complete the readings and assignments. If you are unprepared to participate, your grade will be negatively impacted.
Participate. You must ask questions, participate in activities, and practice in order to be successful.
Demonstrate respect for yourself, your classmates, and your teacher by behaving appropriately. At times our discussions may find people disagreeing over views. This is a healthy part of discourse. Please make sure to maintain a respectful tone.
Follow the rules that are listed in your Student Handbook.
Discipline Policy:
The discipline policy outlined in the Student Handbook will be used in class. If students are unwilling to demonstrate respect for themselves, their classmates, or their teacher, the following plan will be implemented.
1. Warning
2. Individual conference with the teacher/Lunch detention
3. Email or phone call home
4. Administrative referral
The teacher will have the discretion to determine which consequence is appropriate based on the situation.
