This space will be used by students to share their daily and weekly experiences in 6th grade with the greater community. Students will each take a turn being the class journalist for a week. Journal entries and other reflections from morning meetings will be posted here!

Today is October Monday 14 2019. Since today is monday we have new jobs and I was chosen to right the first journal entry. In morning meeting we reflected on the jobs we did last week and how we could do better. Then we spent some tip with our groups to talk about the plan for the job. In Jeffs class we did a vocabulary quiz for the word sort we did. After we finished that we started a new word sort. In Marni's class we did math problems using recipes for Halloween treats. Instead of doing crew we worked on a big rainforest poster assignment. Every Monday we take out the recycling form all over the school. Then we have reading buddies with Kindergarten. Most of the coffee orders came home today so home you like it. As soon as we finished we walked down to the lower lot.

Morning of 10-7

We started the school day by talking more about our coffee selling business. We‘ve been getting into the What’s All the Buzz About? Expedition. So far we have learned about the basics in the coffee making process and the complicated systems of how the small red beans are turned into the cup of the black liquid a lot of us drink every day. Our teachers answered all our questions this morning and explained furthermore into how we sell the packs of coffee beans.

We continued into our core1. In math we were exploring nets and all the nets that make a cube. In social studies we learned of our new word sort and what it ment, all the different words. Today was situated a little different, we had crew before recycling and lunch. It was our first official crew! Other than the unordinary crew arrangement, the morning was a classic 6th grade morning.

For thursday morning meeting we were talking about what people need to be healthy. We got our journals and wrote about what we need to be happy some of the ideas were like you need family to be happy and others were we need sun or food to survive. Then we drew a box and we put the important ones in the box then the others that were things you need to be a human like food or sun were taken down. We talked about what you need to be a happy person like having family and get good food. We also talked about needing exercise to be happy and we also talked about the environment you need to be in to be a happy person. We were also assigned to go home and look for things we do at home that make us happy. For the rest of the day

On tuesday morning in morning meeting we got a habit of scholars card. So if we're being exceptional with a habit than we get a teacher's initials. And we had at the beginning some time too ketchup with each other. Then we talked about the day. And then we were sent to class.

Today monday the 9th is a half day. Short classes but also new cool classes.in math we were learning about parallelograms and composing and decomposing shapes. Today in E.L.A we are getting our reading logs and making book goals for the trimester. Normally you have four one hour long classes but today you have two forty-five minute classes. You would usually have an enrichment but today you have crew. And were your third and fourth classes should be you have kinder buddies than dismissal. in reading buddies you have kindergarten buddy and you read short books that they pick out to them.Then after reading buddies you go home or to after school or down to the lower lot.

This week on Thursday at morning meeting we talked about what we were going to do on Thursday and we also talked about who had and hadn't turned in their field trip permission slip. Later in social studies, we started a project where we got into groups and used coordinates to find different countries. Later in math we worked on finding the area formula of a triangle by cutting rectangles in half. We learned that the area of a triangle is ½ x base x height. After lunch and recess we have enrichments. After enrichments we had ELA and science. In ELA we worked on our letter to self. Some people were already done so they got to read or do typing lessons on the computer. In science we watched a one hour documentary about the amazon rainforest which is what we have been learning about. In the documentary we learned about the plant and animal biodiversity. By that time, after the documentary was over it was 3:00 and that meant it was time to go home. We packed our stuff and headed down to the lower lot to get picked up.

6th grade journal entry

Hi, my name is Naomi Mulder and I'm going to tell you about our morning meetings and an average day in 6th grade. First I will tell you about our morning meeting yesterday. We wrote on a slip of paper about what we should not talk about in our classroom community it's anonymous. Today the teachers printed it out and put it in a box, we read what it said I really hope it helps. We wanted to do this because we wanted everybody to not feel upset or sad about a comment somebody said, even if it was on accident.

This is my average day, first we have morning meeting, then we split up into cores. There's Jeffs core one and Marni's core two, or vice versa. I'm in Jeffs class first, we are working on geography. I learned where Central America is on the map. Then I go to Marni's and we did math, We where learning about area and perimeter. Then we went to P.E it was really fun we got to do station and warmups. After P.E we went to lunch all I did was eat and play soccer, then I had ELA I read the whole time. Next up is science I worked on some math I needed to do and worked on this!
